Today we look back at the International Autotest ran by Larne Motor Club. The event held in Circular Road Car Park in Larne and sponsored by Larne Bourgh Council attracted over 60 drivers to compete over three tests.
The main attraction however came from the international element of 5 teams, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland each consisting of three drivers. Each driver would take on eight tests and the winning team would be that which had the the lowest total time over the 24 tests (three drivers, eight tests each).
The event also celebrated 25 years of autotesting in Northern Ireland by way of a ‘Golden Oldies’ competition with invited legends such as Paddy Hopkirk.
